Katherine Woodward Thomas, M.A., MFT is the author of the New York Times Bestseller  Calling in “The One:” 7 Weeks to Attract the Love of Your Life, andConscious Uncoupling: 5 Steps to Living Happily Even After which was also nominated for the Books for a Better Life Award. The Power of Shifting Our Beliefs -“Don’t believe everything you think.” Catherine Crooker noticed a car with a bumper sticker on it, saying, “Don’t believe everything you think.” This ah ha” moment prompted her to expand that thought with “Don’t assume your view is the only view.” And frankly, “your view may need an upgrade or do over”. Statistics show that Women dominate in volunteer roles and in the Non-profit field as primary contributors. Catherine has noticed that women who ultimately raise millions of dollars helping organizations to realize, and fulfill organizations fundraising goals, are not considered for primary leadership positions in the fundraising community.  Catherine is bold in her belief that it is time to shift how women see themselves in raising, handling, and asking for money, not only in places we volunteer and work, but for ourselves as well!  It is necessary to ask for more, see ourselves with more and to value ourselves for bringing so much more to the table. Catherine inspires us to lift our thinking to a bold new vision and reeducate our minds by shifting our beliefs, opening space for amazing things to happen. She tells us not to be stuck on what we see in the rearview mirror.

Marissa Jablonski, Ph.D.is an Environmental Engineer focusing on International Development and Innovation, in sustainable use of water, of plastics and culture since 2009. Because of her cutting-edge approach and ideas, for many years she's been the only woman at the table. Marissa has found that making your voice heard at a table dominated by males is to bring your "own folding chair". She believes that you have to establish your point of view and say it often. Marissa will share stories about how using her voice inspired other women in her field of Engineering. My guest Megan Kim, shares two riveting stories about growing up in Nebraska as a Korean Immigrant.  As she moved on to college she was faced with an experience of how it felt to be told that she was “like” her best friend. She never saw herself as anything other than an American immigrant whose family moved here from Korea. Megan faced what it felt like to be compared to her best friend who had a different upbringing though both from the mid-west.  Her friend grew up in a White family and Megan from an Asian family.  It took a bold move on Megan’s part to share with her best friend that in her rush to make Megan “like” her that she had not understood or recognized the differences between them.  Megan’s story moved me and help me understand not only the immigration story but why seeing the differences first is critical to recognizing the gifts that other cultures bring to the fabric of America.
